AboutA little about me
I’m Eva, the photographer behind EvaGud Photography. I specialise in newborn and maternity photography, alongside baby and family portraits. I also photograph dogs and cats.
My private studio is in Barking, East London, and I welcome clients from across London, Essex and the surrounding areas.
I’m also a mum, and that has shaped both why I photograph families and how I work with them. My day usually starts with a morning walk with my dog.
Simple, warm and timeless
I want your eye to go straight to the people in a photograph: your baby’s tiny features, their expression, the way they fit into your arms.
My style is simple, with the emphasis on you and your family. I’m drawn to photographs that will still feel beautiful years from now, long after the trends have changed.
Newborns change so quickly. In the blur of feeding, settling and getting to know your baby, it’s easy to forget the smallest details. I photograph them so you have something to return to.
Maternity photography matters to me for a similar reason—it gives you a record of a time when your body is going through an extraordinary transformation. Whether you feel confident or a little unsure about being photographed, I’ll guide you through the session and help you feel at ease.
Why I want you in the photographs, too
When I look at photographs of my children, I feel nostalgic for the things we did together—the experiences, the everyday moments, and the stages I remember a little less clearly now. All of them have helped shape our family.
I feel another kind of connection when I look at photographs of my grandparents or my parents when they were young. They give me a sense of my roots, and a glimpse of their lives before I was part of them.
As mums, we’re often the ones taking the photographs. We have so many pictures of our children, but far fewer of ourselves with them.
That’s why I’ll gently encourage you to be included. I know you may be tired or feeling self-conscious, especially after having a baby. You don’t have to feel completely confident in front of the camera—I’ll help you feel comfortable. I want you to have photographs of you together, too.
Patience, care and time to settle
Choosing someone to photograph your newborn means trusting them with your baby. I take that trust seriously.
I trained with BANPAS in newborn safety, handling and posing, and have continued with further newborn posing training over the years. Your baby’s comfort guides the session, with plenty of time for feeding, settling and cuddles.
My Barking studio is warm and cosy. There’s no expectation that your baby will sleep throughout, or that everything will go to plan. Parents often tell me they feel relaxed once they see how patiently and carefully I handle their little one.
You don’t need to know how to pose, either. I’ll guide you and your family, and take care of posing your newborn. I love what I do, and I want you to feel looked after, from your first enquiry through to choosing your finished photographs.
